Goal 3
Year One
During the first year, we created a workshop for all supervisors of
field experiences. This workshop provided an overview of exemplary
practices and strategies for assessing technology integration. The
presentation was created using PowerPoint and included several videos of
student interns teaching as well as links to student projects. A
CD ROM containing the presentation
was made available to supervisors for
follow-up.
We purchased a cart with 10 laptop computers and an LCD projector to
place in Professional Development Schools lacking technology. This
equipment is intended for student interns to use during field
experiences. It was piloted in a high school classroom.
Year Two
We purchased 5 additional computers for the laptop cart and placed it in
two PDS's, one each semester. Students in Dorchester county
elementary school created PowerPoint presentations. Teachers in
Pinehurst used the cart to create concept maps using Inspiration.
We identified 13 Tech Reps from PDS's. Six Tech Reps
participated in a graduate course on educational technology and the
others participated in a Saturday workshop. Tech Reps learned
about technology requirements for preservice teachers and began to
create a rubric for evaluating use of technology in instruction.
We hosted an evening workshop for Supervisors, faculty, and Tech
Reps. The workshop focused on creating an evaluation instrument
for assessing technology integration during student
teaching.
The supervisor workshop was modified and repeated each semester.
Year Three
A website and discussion board were created to facilitate communication
between Tech Reps, supervisors, and university faculty. Click here
to access this site.
Tech Reps met online to discuss supporting student interns during
student teaching and to give feedback on the new website.
